When texting your students, make sure to add some fun to the mix! You can make engaging with your chatbot fun through your bot’s tone, knowledge base, and campaigns.
How to incorporate fun:
- Develop a conversational tone! As you draft your campaign messages and responses, make the bot sound more like a peer than a professor or parent. Though the bot is encouraging students to complete a task, it should be done in an informal way to the tone casual and increase the likelihood students will engage with it. - Give the bot a personality through its Knowledge Base answers. Some questions in the knowledge base are banter, such as such as, “are you a Justin Bieber fan?” or “tell me a joke.” These questions offer you a chance to develop funny or clever responses. - Use emojis and gifs when drafting campaigns to bring the text to life or lighten the mood for your students. Every now and then begin a text campaign with a joke or phrase, such as, “Today is opening day for baseball.⚾️ Let [school name] help you hit it out of the park. Apply today: [link]. ” Remember to also send non-transactional campaigns that get students excited about your school. These can be fun facts about the college, traditions that your students participate in, or even resources that they might not be aware of. Avoid placing emojis at the end of messages to avoid your messages being marked as spam. |
These are just some ideas, but there are plenty of ways to make your campaigns fun and engaging. You can always brainstorm creative campaigns with your Mainstay point of contact. Have fun!
