Overview
When introducing your bot to learners, you may want them to save the bot to their phone contacts. This ensures they can easily find the phone number again if they want to reach out, and, depending on the device, it can change the display to show a bot picture and name rather than just a phone number. In some cases, it may even display link previews for websites and images within messages, or reduce the likelihood that a message will go to the Spam folder.
Attaching a vCard
- In the Script Builder, on a simple message (ie, not a question), click the + Add button.
- Select Attach vCard from the list.
- Enter a name for the contact card.
- Upload a small image for the contact card.
- Click Save. You will see the vCard action below the message.
- If you need to change the name or picture, click the edit pencil to re-open the vCard menu.
- Note: you do not need to specify a phone number. The bot's phone number(s) will be automatically included.
Receiving a vCard
When a contact receives a vCard in a message, it will appear in the Conversations page:
This will be displayed differently on learner devices, but in general, it should show the image and name. Clicking on the vCard will prompt the learner to save this to their phone contacts.
Note: vCards will NOT appear for web-chat users!
