We recommend that you test your scripts before sending them out to contacts via a campaign. This will help you catch any typos or mistakes, prior to the messages being sent to your target population.
Testing Your Scripts:
In order to ensure that your campaign provides a great experience and has your intended impact, we strongly encourage you to follow these three steps before you use a Script in any scheduled Campaign:
- Test your campaign script before scheduling it to make sure it comes through the way you intended. This can help you catch typos or custom data fields that are not rendering correctly (e.g. sending the words “Hi [First Name]!” instead of “Hi Anne!”). Learn how to set up Test Users in this article.
- Double check the contact list you are sending your campaign to and the date and time you have scheduled it for.
- If sending a survey campaign, double check the campaign expiration time and reminders to ensure you don’t schedule another campaign while contacts are still in the previous one.
Keep in mind:
Send the campaign to just yourself or your testing group. This is a great opportunity to make sure that all your links are working and that the message displays as you want it.
Keep messages under 160 characters. Remember that messages that go over will get broken up on certain devices!
Ensure your bot knows enough about the topic by asking some questions related to the campaign. Sending a campaign often inspires learners to ask questions about what you told them! You can use the Test the Bot feature to send in questions and identify opportunities to create new understandings or add question synonyms to your Knowledge Base.
