Overview
The Allowed Hours feature provides a safety check to ensure you don't accidentally schedule campaigns outside of reasonable sending hours. (Sending an unexpected text at 3am can definitely increase your opt-out rate!)
Your Allowed Hours appear when scheduling a Campaign:
Configuration
To change your Allowed Hours, navigate to the SMS/Text Messaging Settings page and scroll down to Allowed Hours for Campaigns. Simply click into the time pickers to set your start and end times, then click the Save Changes button when it appears.
Notes
- This restriction does not prevent the bot from responding to incoming questions, nor does it prevent sending and receiving messages during a Live Chat, or even continuing a campaign script if the learner answers your questions. This only applies to initiating a campaign.
- If your scheduled campaign happens to run outside of the appropriate times you set up, then the system will pause sending the campaign and resume the next day when the window reopens. For example, if you set your hours to 10am - 6pm, and start sending a large campaign at 5:45pm, it's possible that some learners won't receive it by 6pm; those learners would instead get the message at 10am the next day.
-
Depending on your use case, communication with your learners may be subject to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which states: "No person or entity shall initiate any telephone solicitation to any residential telephone subscriber before the hour of 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. (local time at the called party’s location)." Therefore, the Mainstay default Allowed Hours are 8am to 9pm.
